Microwave assisted pyrolysis for waste treatment and renewable energy


The MicroFuel - - project was granted financing by the Commission of the European Communities, Research Directorate General in 2009. The coordinator of the project was the Norwegian Forest Owners Federation. The Confederation of European Forest owners together with 9 other European partners participated in the supply chain.

The SBC2 microwave process design was the key technology in the project.

The project was finalized in Q2 2012; with a semi-industrial facility at Notodden, Norway. The project target feedstock was pine wood chips. The major scientific partner is the University of Nottingham, National Centre for Industrial Microwave Processing (NCIMP), the foremost R&D institution on applied microwave technologies.
